Welcome Baby Malia

My big brother Justin and his amazing wife Corinne just gave birth to a 6th baby girl all the way out in Hawaii. Thats right I said 6th and Hawaii! She was born Friday October 9th weighing 7lbs. 5.8oz and 20.75 in. long. Her name is Malia Marie Marshall. I am so excited for them. I cant wait to meet her. she is beautiful. Wish I had a pic to post of her, Sorry. They are the best parents in the whole world and I don't know anyone who would do a better job raising 6 beautiful girls. So to my big bro and favorite sister congratulations. I love you.

Yard Work

I was loading some pictures onto my computer and found this one I forgot about. This bush died and I was going to dig it out but then I got to thinking about the spiders that were probably in it so I quickly changed my mind about digging it out. But I knew it really needed to come up so I found a chain and hooked it around the bush and onto my car. Then my car did the rest. So I thanked my car and drug the spidery bush over to the driveway for Jared to take to the dump.

Pulling my hair out!

So school has started and I am finally okay about it, and I do need to blog about it but for just the few minutes I have before Jared makes me put Colby to bed I have a story. So every morning I take about 40 minutes to do Sara and Amelia's hair. Take the time to brush, curl, straiten, brush, hair do dads, and spray Oh and I cant forget the gel any way I have been noticing Amelia's hair the last week after school looks pretty un done. Definitely not how it looked when she walked out the door. So I ask her.....

Me: Amelia what has happened to your hair?

Amelia: I pulled it out. (Out of its doo dads)

Me: Why did you do that? (Trying not to have a mad look on my face)

Amelia: because I think its cool to take it out.

Me: (Thinking about all the time I wasted this morning)

Amelia: Why?

Me: (Pleading with myself not to say it) Because you look funny.

Me: (I should just start a therapist account for my poor kids.)

Amelia: Thats Okay.

Me: (Getting Madder) Fine I just wont do your hair anymore.

Amelia: Fine Ill just pull it out anyway.

Me: (Stomping off)

So this morning I am doing Sara's hair and Amelia comes up and stands at the sink.....

Me: What ya doing? (Knowing she wants her hair done)

Amelia: Im ready

Me: For what? (ha ha ha)

Amelia: to do my hair

Me: I am not doing your hair.

Amelia: Fine (starts combing it)

Amelia leaves for school without her hair done. Later tonight......

Me: How did it go without your hair done today?

Amelia: Not so cool.

Me: Oh not so fun. (Trying not to smile, Knowing I have won)

Amelia: will you do my hair tomorrow?

Me: Sure. (Trying not to do the I won dance in frount of her)

I like my kids to look cute and clean. So letting Amelia leave the house without her hair done almost killed me. But I am so glad she wants me to do her hair tomarrow.

Steel Days Parade

This past Saturday was the Steel Days Parade. We go every year even if most of the parade consists of business's on the back of flat bed trailers. Well our good friends daughter Kylee is on the American Fork Drill Team who was part of the parade and they called to see if Sara would help their younger daughter Courtney hold the AF drill teams banner. Sara was so excited. I was a bit nervice because Sara isn't the strenuous type. Well anyway she was so cute. And after the parade she said how much fun she had and how she didn't even get tired. She talked about all the friends she saw and who waved at her. It was a great day for her. Amelia and Nicolas were very supportive and made sure I put out some blankets the night before so we had a good spot to make sure we could see Sara and wave. Sometimes siblings can be so nice. Anyway Nic, Amelia, and Colby loaded up on candy and we had a good time.

Steel Days Carnival

I took my crazies to the carnival for the AF steel days. We had a ton of fun and were there for over 3 hours. Jill (my mother-in-law) bought the kids a ton of tickets (Thank you) which lasted them the afternoon. Sara and Nicolas love the magic carpet ride and rode it over and over. Amelia loved the big yellow slide and took Colby down it a few times. Amelia doesn't like the fast big rides so she was nice enough to sit by Colby on the little rides. She looked bored on the rides but was a good sport. Sara and Nicolas tried to sneak on the fast turning space ship ride but nic was rejected because of his height. Sara wanted to find him some tall shoes. But then they both ran off to the carpet ride again. Colby loved every ride he went on and I had to make him get off most of them. He also loves the horses on the carousel. Amelia did go on the Farris wheel with Sara and Nic and was very sorry when she got off. But Sara asked me to go on the Farris wheel with her, which we had to take Colby but this time the ride was a success. So all in all we had a great time.

Camping

Jared and I took our family camping the end of June up by Park City. We have a camping world pass that has many different camp grounds we can visit whenever we want. Most of these camp grounds have swimming pools and fishing. Then during the summer they have fun things for the kids to do like when we went they had Bingo, Crafts and a out side movie night. We stayed for four whole days. Jard came and went because he had to work but the kids and I hung out. This was our schedule for most of the day - sleep in, eat, play at the playground, eat lunch, go swimming, eat dinner, go fishing, stay up late while having a fire and eating smores. Fun huh!

I was looking at some blogs tonight and was thinking about all the fun my family has had this summer when the reality of school starting soon and our summer break ending. I love my kids home for the summer. Even tho my kids have to have naughtiness always goin on around them, it has been so much fun having them home. But not only will Sara and Amelia be starting 3rd grade and gone for most of the day, but Nicolas will be going to kindergarten! Colby will be the only one home and thankfully he has a few years before he starts school. I know I have plenty to do (like maby cleaning my house, ugh) but what will I do with my kids gone most of the day. Okay I am now sounding like a crazy overprotective mom. Shelley is a great school with great teachers. One of the teachers is a wonderful friend. I also love the things my kids learn and the after school art class Sara goes to. I also must thank Sara and Amelia's past teachers who by the way were wonderful and taught them great things. So school of course is a wonderful thing with great programs but I will sure miss the summer. Sleeping in, sleeping in, laying on the trampoline looking for the big dipper, sleeping in, swimming, watching the kids ride bikes, BBQ's, driving up the canyon to cool off, camping, did I already menchine sleeping in? Anyway I know school is a good thing and I could never teach my kids amaizing things their teachers can teach them so we will have loads of fun for the next 4 weeks before we go back to a schedule and sleeping in is a distant memory.

Jared and I were married on March 6th 1999. My family had moved to Pleasant Grove my junior year of high school and that's when I met Jared. I went to church and this nice man from the bishop rick came and introduced himself and said his son and I would be in the same Sunday school class and so he took me to class and introduced me to his son. That nice man turned into my father in law a few years later. (He didn't know what he was about to get himself into) Anyway we started dating and were married in the Mt Timpanogas Temple and rented a small house in American Fork. In 2003 we started a family by adopting twin girls. They were 18 months when we met and 6 months later we were sealed in the Mt Timp. Temple on their 2nd birthday. It was an amazing experience. They are now 8. 2 years later we added Nicolas to our cute family. He was such a good baby. He is now 4. Last of all we have Colby who is 18 months. I am so excited he will be going to nursery. Well in a quick paragraph that's our family. I am so happy to be married to a great man. We have been through many things in the past 10 years and I love him even more today than ever. He has been a wonderful husband, he makes sure I am safe and loved. He is a great dad. Our children love him very much. Thanks Jared for all that you do, I love you.

Hawaii

We made it!!! We drove to Las Vegas and got to the air port 12:00 am and boarded the plane at 2:30 am. We flew into Hawaii at 6:40 am. The kids were awesome. Except for Colby who started to cry right before the plane took off then he went to sit with Jared and slept the whole flight. It was great. We went to the beach yesterday and were pretty lazy because we were pretty tired. Colby slept through the night last night! Yea! Now we are leaving to go to The sea life park. It is a little cloudy but is 75 degrees. We are having so much fun. The kids are having so much fun. They love wearing shorts and playing with their cousins. There havent been any fighting yet! I will post some pictures when we come home next week. Love you all.

Heaven

Kids say funny things alot. Like when Sara and Amelia were 2 they said "yes" to everything. So we would ask if James Bond was their boy friend? they said yes. (I am sure they were thinking of Pierce Brosnan 007) Or if Jared was handsome? Of course the answer was always YES! Well anyway you get the point. So last Wednesday I picked up Nicolas from school and this was how it all went down.

Nic: gets in car sits down and starts to buckle up. (its the law in case you don't know)

Me: How was School?

Nic: Good!

Nic: Guess what mom? (same breath) We don't have school Friday!

Me: Are you sure? Why?

Nic: Because Mrs. Gray is going to Heaven

Me: What? (Since when do you get to pick the day and time) (I guess I am on the bad list)

Nic: Mrs. Gray's father died so she is going to see him.

Me: Oh! that's so sad. (Still wondering if I'm on the bad list. I didn't get an email with the sign up sheet.)

So of course we talked about how sad it was that Mrs. Gray's father had died but how she was not going to Heaven yet, her dad was. And how the family would have a funeral and then a burial. Then of course Nic wondered how Mrs. Gray's father would get to Heaven if he was berried in a box.

Walking with the Dinosaurs

Jared's parents sent Jared's brother with his family and our family to a night of Walking with the Dinosaurs. We had so much fun. I couldn't believe how big the dinosaurs were. All our kids loved it. Sara loves Dinosaurs anyway and knew everyone. Amelia kept asking Sara what the names were. Nicolas sat and watched the whole thing. Amazing considering he barley can sit through a whole movie. We had a great time. Thanks Kevin and Jill!

Amelia and Sara are Baptized

And now, if the Lamb of God, he being holy, shoud have need to be baptized

by water, to fulfil all rightousness, O then, how much more need heave we,

being unholy, to be baptized, yea, even by water!

2 Nephi 31:5

Sara and Amelia were Baptized on January 3rd. It was a great day. The opening song was "When I am Baptized". Jared baptized and Confirmed them both. Grandpa Kevin Edwards talked on baptism. Nana Karen Marshall played all the music and uncle Shane was the chorister. Megan and Derek Edwards gave the prayers. Nicole Casey played "I know that my Redeemer Lives" on her harp. I gave a talk about the Holy Ghost. Brother Casey gave the closing remarks and we sang "When Jesus Christ was Baptized" for the closing song. I am so proud of Amelia and Sara's choice to be Baptized, I hope and pray that they will remember the spirit they felt and how special of a day it was for the rest of their lives.

Amelia and Sara turn 8!

Sara and Amelia turned eight on December 27th. I took them and a friend to Jordon Commons in Sandy to watch Bedtime Stories. It was a cute movie. We then went to the Mayan to eat dinner. They had a good time watching the cliff divers dive off the cliff and into the water. I cant believe they are eight. Crazy.

Christmas Day!

So Christmas Eve Jared and I went to bed at 1:00 am then at 3:00 am Nicolas woke up all excited that Santa had come and had woke up Sara and Amelia so they could all look at their Santa presents. So we had them go back to bed and Nic just couldn't so he came in to our bed and for the next hour told Jared and I all the things that Santa left everyone and he tried to sneak out of bed a couple of times. But he managed to fall asleep. I set Sara and Amelia's alarm for 7:30 but we were up at 7:oo. We then let the kids play with their gifts Santa left. Jared's parents, Trevor, Megan and Derek came over to watch the kids open their presents and I made breakfast for everyone. Then our great and wonderful men set out to shovel driveways and sidewalks of all our houses. We had a great morning and a great day visiting with all our families.

Christmas Eve with the Edwards'

Christmas Eve we spent with Jared's family. We all went over to Derek and Megan's house. Megan fed us all soup. (Which tasted Awesome!) Then they all listened to my kids sing songs and do the actions. We then watched the Santa Clause 2 to get us all excited for Santa to come.
